The Ashby Concrete Countertop Philosophy
Remember back to the first time you heard the term Concrete Countertop. You imagined your 20 year old driveway in all its oil stained glory sitting atop your cabinets. Why would any rational individual even consider such an outlandish thing, concrete, on your countertops! This is the reaction I still get from many as I try to explain my product to the curious. Their reaction is always the same as I produce pictures to show them my latest project. “There’s no way that is concrete!" It has always been satisfying to assure them that it is.
I grew up the son of an “Old School” Concrete man. From the time I was 12 years old I had a trowel in my hand. I must of heard him cuss the ready mix plant a thousand times, he would say” You can’t make chicken soup out of chicken manure”. I applied his logic as I began developing my own mix that would meet my own needs. From the start, basic mix designs and plenty of quality ingredients seemed to always work best. By using standard bagged concrete from my local hardware store and adding a few additional components, I was able to produce a very strong and reliable countertop. Never being satisfied, I continued my research. When I came across “Concrete Solutions” products, the final piece of the puzzle was put into place.
Concrete Solutions products have long since been an integral part of my mix design.
With the mix design figured out, I moved on to the style dilemma. While experimenting, I happened onto a unique method of mottling the surface of concrete. I realized that I could control this method with great accuracy. I was able to create veins that looked completely natural. Combining all these elements together with innovative sculpted edges that are just not seen anywhere else, the system now is complete. All of the work would be in vain unless people would pay to have these one of a kind pieces in their home. I have found overwhelmingly, if a potential customer can see it, touch it or moreover feel it, they will want it.
It is unlike anything available on the market today!
