ecoprocote Eco-Etch Gel Concrete Etch & Sealer Remover is a specially engineered non-hazardous chemistry that provides enhanced porosity on green and mature concrete surfaces. Consistent and uniform etching is achieved for the highest quality decorative stain or specialty coating application. Also effectively cleans and removes sealers, efflorescence, mortar deposits, and stains.
The depth of etching is the same as hydrochloric or muriatic acid but with a more uniform etch and a lot less odor. It is a safe alternative to these highly volatile acids. The high viscosity gelled form of Eco-Etch makes vertical, horizontal or overhead applications more consistent and safe. This formulation also makes it very easy to neutralize by simply rinsing well with water.
Gelled vs. Liquid: Our unique gelled liquid formulation allows maximum flexibility for horizontal, vertical or overhead surfaces. The high viscosity gel is easy to apply to ensure a consistent and uniform application. The gel consistency also provides better coverage with slower evaporation rate as compared to liquid acid. Liquid acid will naturally flow to the lowest point and will evaporate much more quickly. Inconsistent coverage and dwell time will naturally affect overall uniformity or even the potential of having inadequate porosity that will affect the quality of installation.

Application Instructions:
Surface Preparation: Always prepare a test area of varying stripper thickness prior to full application. This will indicate the time required for completion, approximate square foot usage and suitability of product. All areas to be etched must be clean, dry and free of oil and grease. Pre-wet or protect all areas not to be etched which may come in contact with product or product rinse. Concrete Sealers may require longer contact time, more agitation and/or successive applications.
DO NOT DILUTE! DO NOT SHAKE!
Application: For use to etch concrete surfaces and the removal of most sealers. Apply desired thickness (usually 10-30 mils) as determined from your test patch by brush, 3/8”-1/2” roller or a rag to fully cover the concrete surface. Decorative Stippled rollers work best. Allow 15 minutes contact time, then agitate with stiff broom, nylon brush, or back roll surface to introduce unreacted Eco-Etch to the surface. Allow an additional 15 minutes contact time. Rinse with water and stiff brush, pressure wash, to neutralize and expose etched concrete surface.Clean-up: For small areas, wipe with a dry cotton cloth, followed by warm or soapy water and a stiff bristled brush to remove residue. For large areas, removal can be accomplished by using a nylon stiff bristled brush, rinsing the surface with running water.
